Current Events

We are well underway with our new school year.  We have been learning about ourselves, the alphabet, shapes and Fall.  We have gone on field trips to the Raccoon Township fire department and Janoski’s Pumpkin Patch.  We had a really nice day sharing our time with our grandparents.  We also celebrated Fall with a Harvest Party.  We will be celebrating Thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 21 with our Thanksgiving Feast.  We will party all morning, playing games and learning about the first Thanksgiving. Following the festivities, we will enjoy a Turkey lunch. Please note that we will be closed Thanksgiving day and Friday.

So many activities are planned for December.  The Preschool and PreK classes will go to the Vicary House and have lunch at McDonald’s.  Please fill a permission slip for your child to participate.  We will also be taking the PreK classes to Allison’s Tree Farm on December 10th.  Please read your newsletters to keep up on all that is happening.

We will be offering our Saturday Babysitting fundraiser on December 8th from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  On this day, our staff volunteers their time to watch your children for a donation, so that you may do some shopping, decorating or wrapping of presents.  If your child will be here during lunch, please provide it as we do not cook that day.  We will also be asking for donations of fruit, so that we may deliver baskets to some of our elderly, group homes, and those in need.

Construction on the new addition is really moving along, and we are looking forward to moving some of our classes by spring.  This will eliminate the need for classrooms in the “Big Room”, and will free up some space for the school aged kids.  If you would like to see the new building during the week, just ask.  We are usually able to do a “walk through”.

We would like to apologize for the recent closings.  We pride ourselves on always being able to stay open when other  facilities close, however, when the power is lost, we cannot hold child care.  That was the reason for both recent closures.  If we must close, we have it announced on KDKA.  It is also posted on the Mt. Pleasant Facebook page, and on our website.
